jackie-short

Jackie Short – Level 2 Coach

After a long break from netball Jackie returned about 6 years ago, quickly rekindling her love of the game. She undertook Level 1, then Level 2 and Into Umpiring and ‘C’ Award courses. She has also completed a Walking Netball Host course and has certificates in safeguarding and emergency first aid.

Jackie has run England Netball ‘Back to Netball’ sessions for ladies returning after a break (not dissimilar to her!) She loves seeing people re-kindle their netball passion and become part of new teams. With 3 daughters she has been involved in coaching primary and secondary school teams. She loves seeing the younger girls progressing.

Jackie plays within local leagues with a fabulous group of ladies and her daughter. She also umpires regularly in the local leagues.

Kerry Mustow – Level 1 Coach

Kerry is a qualified Level 1 Coach as well as being Club Chair.  She organises all the League games and the friendly fixtures for all age groups. Kerry has responsibility for coordinating Board and Committee meetings as well as liaising between the Committee and the Coaches.

Kerry has played netball from the age of 10.  Her school team played together for 6 years and she loved the camaraderie.  She played at university but then not again for another 25 years.  A few years ago Kerry joined an adult friendly training session and loved it.  She now plays in the Worthing League and has made some great friends.

Kerry is passionate about helping girls to play sport.  She is also U15 Team Manager and U16 Team Manager!  She says that helping out at Stars has been so rewarding with a fantastic team of coaches and volunteers.  Having this club in Storrington provides an incredible opportunity for young people to learn to play and enjoy netball to all standards.

camillaV

Camilla Vigar – Level 1 Coach

Camilla has loved and played netball for over 35 years!  She played through school and then continued to play in the Crawley League until she had her first child.  After a few years off she started playing again in the Worthing League and now plays in a team with Kerry and Holly from Stars.

Camilla’s daughter has caught her love of netball and is a Stars member. As a result Camilla has recently qualified as a Level 1 Coach to help support Stars and to take her interest in netball down a new route.  Camilla is also Stars U14 Team Manager.

Sarah-Storey

Sarah Storey – Level 1 Coach

Sarah has been playing netball off and on for 40 years and absolutely loves it!  Her best sporting achievement has to be winning The U18 English Schools (vs Croydon).  Her coach ran on court jumping up and down & crying, that’s when she realised they had won!  It was this Coach, Sue Woods, who instilled Sarah’s love of sport and now her desire to help Stars Netball.

Sarah still plays league netball in Crawley, and has three daughters, two of whom are members of Stars.  Sarah is also Stars U13 Team Manager.

vicky-ferris

Vicky Ferris – Level 1 Coach

Vicky has been playing netball since she was 7 years old (so over 40 years!).  She has played for various teams during her netball career and has made many friends along the way.

Her current team is called Southwick Manor and they play in the Worthing League. They have just won promotion to the Premier League which Vicky says will mostly be a test of her fitness for next season but she love a challenge!

When Vicky’s eldest child (she has 3!) started school Vicky wanted to spread the good news of playing netball so she set up an after school netball club at their primary school. Vicky obtained her Level 1 coaching qualification back in her early twenties but coaching for her was about getting children active and having happy faces. Vicky continued coaching at the school for 7 years and grew a successful school team before stepping back from this role.

After a two year break from coaching Vicky was delighted when her daughter also developed a love of netball and joined Stars NC when she was 9 years old. Vicky guesses it was inevitable that she would also get involved and she thinks it’s a real privilege to be a part of such a great club.
