Did you know Stars Netball Club is now in its 10th year?!
We are very excited to celebrate this milestone with our netball family past, present and future! We have a series of events lined up below and no doubt more to follow…
Young Volunteer Evening – 13 September 2021
This was our first ‘young volunteer’ evening of the season run by Jackie Short and Katie Chubb.
The focus was on the practical basics of umpiring.
Stars Netball Club Primary Schools Tournament – 24 September 2021
Our club hosted local primary schools for a great afternoon of netball masterclasses and tournament style games, supported by some of our amazing young leaders and qualified coaches.
What a positive experience, encompassing our ‘Netball for All’ ethos.
Defence Workshops – 13 November 2021
Hannah Gibson and Katie Guirey developed the U11s and U12s’ tactical knowledge, ready to apply in training and competitions.
U13s to U16s were stretched both physically and mentally as they concentrated on unit work, running their feet and good ball handling skills.
Shooting Workshop – 4 December 2021
We held a Shooting Workshop on 4 December focussing on the finer skills needed to shoot. We love a positional session. The players increased their tactical knowledge and practiced skills and activities which they have taken away to refine.
Georgia Lees Masterclass – 8 January 2022
Georgia Lees plays for Saracens Mavericks (and previously Surrey Storm) in the Superleague. What a great day we had on 8 January when Georgia came to Chanctonbury Leisure Centre to coach our U9 to U16 club players and also host a brilliant adult session which was open to all. With thanks to Georgia for helping us celebrate our 10 year anniversary.
More Workshops!
During the Spring we are holding offering players further opportunities to improve their games with a February midcourt workshop, a further defence workshop in March and another shooting workshop in April.
Again the workshops will be run by two level 2 coaches and will be open to U11 to U16 players focussing on the finer skills and tactical knowledge specific to each area of the court.
Social Events
Throughout the year all teams are organising their own social events.
So far our BEEs have been bowling at ‘Out of Bounds’, U11s had a Roller Disco and later a Christmas visit to Worthing Ice Rink, U12s went to ‘Flip Out’ and Macdonalds and organised a second trip to Worthing Ice Rink, U13s also went to ‘Flip Out’, U14s went to Laser Quest and U15/16 chose a visit to ‘Lazer Zone’ in Brighton.
